I've been riding rollercoasters for 40+ years. The more extreme the better. At least that's what I thought. At 52 years old, it seems I have now experienced a roller coaster that is actually TOO extreme. To be honest, I rode Skyrush twice in one day and rode every other thrill ride in Hersheypark at least once that same day. But we started and ended our day on Skyrush. In the morning it seemed VERY extreme and thrilling and made an awesome start to a great day! In the evening, it seemed downright traumatic! I give Skyrush 5 stars, but I'm not sure if I'll ever need to ride it again. After leaving Hersheypark after a day of thrill rides, I wasn't able to think straight and my girlfriend said that I was exhibiting many (not just a couple) signs of being concussed. I felt fine the next day, but all the same I think the technology of extreme thrill rides has finally matched (exceeded) our capacity to safely experience them. Don't get me started on the other ride at Hershey that catapults you out of the gate from 0-70 mph in like 2 seconds. That's practically the same as a fighter jet being catapulted from an aircraft carrier. It's just insane. I'll be over by the ice cream stand or flipping plastic frogs if you need me!
P.S. This ride is better then millennium force and its not even over 300 feet.
Skyrush is an incredible intamin hyper coaster. Its incredibly intense and packs a punch. However, the restraints are unbearably uncomfortable. They crush your thighs to the point they start to to turn purple. It could honestly stop the blood flow from your arteries and kill you, well not exactly. Overall I think its a fantastic roller coaster. Definitely a must do when you go to Hershey park.
If you want speed, height, airtime, and intensity Skyrush has it all. Some people complain about the restraints crushing their thighs, but they do not bother me. It helps that the park has modified the restraints since it opened. Back row left wing seat is the best seat imo, but you will get a good ride in any seat. The wing seats provide a more intense ride and the middle seats give a smoother ride. This is also a very beautiful coaster, having a bright color scheme and being situated over Spring creek. I cannot recommend this coaster enough. Talking about it does not do it justice, you have to experience it for yourself to know how good it is.
This is my personal favorite rollercoaster at Hersheypark. And it's also my favorite out of all the parks I've been to. This thing is tall, fast, it has some of the craziest and most intense ejector airtime ever. The restraints didn't bother me at all. When I got off this ride for the first time, I was blown away. I highly recommend this ride, it is one the best rollercoasters ever, definitely Top10 worthy.
Skyrush is easily one of the most exhilarating coasters I've ever been on. The restraint bar rests on your mid-thigh, and as many reviewers have mentioned, it is tight, and at some points in the ride, it can be painful. But, if the bar was at your hip, or if the ride used a shoulder harness, the experience would be much less thrilling. The beauty of the restraint system is how free your entire torso is during the ride. I'm not typically one to be scared on rollercoasters, but every time this coaster crests a hill, and I lifted up out of my seat and pitched forward, the rush of fear was intense and exciting. I've never screamed more passionately on a ride. OF COURSE the restraint is perfectly safe, but the feeling of danger is what sets this ride apart from others. The center seats, with the floor underneath, gives a bit more sense of security, but at 5' 8", only my toes could reach to press down and brace myself. The winged seats, with no floor below, does increase the pressure on your thighs, but overall, it adds to the experience, and is definitely worth it.
